An Expectant Not-Eel by dracontes An Expectant Not-Eel by dracontes
In the wake of Feloid Eye, I decided it was a good time to finally deal with this hitch I have with giving digital works the same type of finish I could give traditional ones (see Rustlemaw for an example). I'm not sure if it's lack of experience or avoidance of the less agreeable aspects of sitting in front of the computer for hours on end. Probably a bit of both, and other aspects as well, all things considered.

So I went about it simply: took one of the brushes I normally use to sketch and skipped the usual process which involves several layers and meticulous fiddling with lines of various colors.
Well being who I am, keeping it to a single layer and a 3-pixel brush still allowed me to go over the shading with some detail though I did opt to render just diffuse lighting for this one.

As for what is represented I can't say much more than it being the front end of an eel or worm-like creature with an expandable mouth, sensory and manipulatory tentacles, and a dorsal tube harboring its gills.

My thanks to 8bitAviation, triggamafia, Pfunkei, and Jheuloh for commentary and encouragement.

Something in the eye of the beholder, I'd say ;) Much obliged for the favourite on an old thing elsewhere :)
